Transport
In Thailand, there are a variety of ways to get to and from a place. Public transport include buses, which are convenient, comfortable and affordable and tickets can be purchased from any bus station. There are elevated bus systems (BTS) and the subway (MRT) and most Thai cities also have converted pick-up trucks called sorng•taa•ou that run fixed routes. There is also hired transport such as metered taxis and motorcycle taxis. The train is slow but follows a scenic route and is quite popular for an overnight trip between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. One common mode of transport is a túk-túk (pronounced dúk-dúk), a different and fun way to get around the city. Motorcycles and cars are easy to rent too.
